Job Description

GT Educational Institute Pte. Ltd. is seeking an academically strong and experienced Bilingual Economics Tutor to provide in-person, one-to-one or small-group tuition to undergraduate students.

The tutor must be able to teach university-level Economics in English and explain complex concepts in Mandarin Chinese when required.

Candidates should have a strong foundation in economic theory, mathematics, statistics and quantitative analysis and be comfortable teaching from university lecture notes, tutorials, assignments and past examination papers.

• Other related undergraduate Economics modules

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-person Economics lessons in Singapore.

• Teach university-level Economics to undergraduate students.

• Explain complex Economics concepts clearly in both English and Mandarin Chinese.

• Guide students through mathematical, statistical and econometric problems step by step.

• Review students lecture notes, tutorial questions and course materials before lessons.

• Assist students with understanding difficult course concepts and tutorial questions.

• Prepare students for quizzes, mid-term examinations and final examinations.

• Work through practice questions and past examination papers.

• Strengthen students economic reasoning, quantitative analysis and problem-solving skills.

• Teach students how to interpret economic models, graphs, equations and statistical results.

• Identify students weaknesses and develop targeted revision plans.

• Provide constructive feedback on students academic progress.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or above in Economics, Applied Economics, Econometrics, Quantitative Economics, or a closely related discipline.

• Strong knowledge of undergraduate-level Microeconomics and Macroeconomics.

• Strong foundation in Mathematics, Statistics and Econometrics.

• Must be bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese.

• Must be based in Singapore and available to conduct in-person lessons.

• Must be comfortable teaching at undergraduate/university level.

• Strong quantitative, mathematical and analytical skills.

• Able to explain difficult concepts and calculations clearly and systematically.

• Able to work with students university lecture notes, tutorials and examination materials.

• Patient, responsible and committed to students academic progress.

• Previous university-level tutoring, teaching assistant (TA), lecturing or academic mentoring experience is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Economics or a related discipline.

• Experience teaching students from SMU, NUS, NTU or other recognised universities.

• Strong knowledge of Econometrics and quantitative Economics.

• Experience with R, Stata, Python or other statistical/econometric software.

• Ability to provide intensive examination preparation when required.

Important: This is an in-person tutoring position in Singapore. Candidates who are available for online lessons only will not be suitable for this role.
