Position Overview
A Drone Pilot (also known as an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle/UAV Operator) is responsible for planning, operating, and maintaining drone systems for a variety of commercial, industrial, or creative purposes. The role requires technical proficiency, strong situational awareness, and compliance with aviation regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and execute drone flight missions in accordance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements
Operate UAV/drone equipment for purposes such as aerial photography, surveying, inspection, mapping, or delivery
Conduct pre-flight and post-flight checks to ensure airworthiness of drone systems
Monitor weather conditions and assess environmental factors before and during flights
Maintain accurate flight logs, records, and mission reports
Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and minor repairs on drone equipment
Coordinate with ground crew, clients, and air traffic control where required
Ensure full compliance with local Civil Aviation Authority Singapore (CAAS) regulations and airspace restrictions
Analyse and process aerial data (imagery, thermal, etc.) as required
Identify and mitigate risks during mission planning and execution
Qualifications & Requirements
Licenses & Certifications
Valid UAV/drone pilot license (CAAS Operator Permit in Singapore or equivalent)
Relevant airspace safety certifications
Education
Polytechnic Diploma or degree in Aviation, Aerospace Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field (preferred)
Relevant vocational training or certifications accepted
Experience
No minimum drone operation experience required
Experience with specific platforms (DJI, Autel, etc.) preferred
Experience in the relevant sector (construction, media, agriculture, logistics, etc.) is an advantage
Technical Skills
Proficiency in drone flight control systems and ground station software
Familiarity with GIS, photogrammetry software (e.g., Pix4D, DroneDeploy, Agisoft Metashape)
Basic understanding of aviation meteorology
Knowledge of battery management and equipment maintenance
Soft Skills
Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making under pressure
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work independently in varied field environments
Adaptability and physical fitness for outdoor operations
Working Conditions
Frequent outdoor work in varying weather and terrain conditions
May involve travel to remote or restricted locations
Shift work, early mornings, or weekend operations may be required
