Job Summary
Produce precise 2D and 3D technical drawings from survey data, collaborate with surveyors and engineers to ensure accuracy, and maintain compliance with local standards. Support project documentation and occasionally assist with field surveys.
Responsibilities
- Produce accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings, including site plans, topographic maps, and boundary surveys, using CAD software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Analyze and convert raw survey data, including measurements and elevations, into detailed technical drawings and maps
- Modify and update existing drawings based on new data or feedback from surveyors, engineers, and clients
- Collaborate with surveyors and engineers to ensure drawings accurately reflect survey findings and project requirements
- Review drawings for accuracy, verifying all measurements, distances, and coordinates to maintain quality control
- Organize and maintain an updated library of drawings and properly archive all project documentation
- Adhere to local surveying codes, construction standards, and regulations when preparing technical drawings
- Assist with field surveys as needed, including measuring boundaries and confirming survey data
Required competencies and certifications
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) to create 2D and 3D survey drawings and models
- Understanding of land measurement techniques, topographic data, and surveying principles
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and avoid errors in drawings
- Solid mathematical skills, including geometry and basic trigonometry, for interpreting and calculating land measurements
- Effective communication skills to liaise with surveyors, engineers, and clients for technical information exchange
- Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot discrepancies in data or designs and resolve technical issues
- Familiarity with local surveying codes, construction standards, and industry regulations
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Diploma or degree in drafting, land surveying, geospatial sciences, or a related field
- Previous experience working with surveying firms or in a CAD drafting role
