Job Description

Minimum 10-15 Years of Experience.
Responsibilities Include Ensuing the Following:

  • All diving operations are carried out safely in accordance with the latest code of practice for diving at work (SS 511), Hydropro policy, other relevant standards, and shall be familiar with any legislative requirements which may be applicable to the diving operations.
  • All work is carried out to the appropriate quality standards.
  • Liaising with the client, master of the vessel, etc as appropriate.
  • Healthy group dynamics and performance standards are maintained by displaying good leadership skills.
  • Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety Management system is fully complied with and adhered to at all times.
  • The permit to work system is followed.
  • All diving-related plant and equipment are suitable for the task, properly maintained and meet legal requirements.
  • All diver-communications are recorded on the voice recorder and that all recordings are retained for a minimum of 48 hours.
  • All divers are competent, qualified and fully aware of the dive plan and contingency, diving system, diving procedures, safety and emergency procedures.
  • All divers are fit to dive and have passed their Medical Examination.
  • Established procedures are followed step by step during each operation.
  • The on-site risk assessment has been completed to identify all the foreseeable hazards and risk controls for the task to be carried out and communicated to all relevant parties
  • Drills, as specified in the Company matrix, are exercised before diving commences at each new dive site. A record of these drills shall be documented and submitted to the HSE Executive.
  • The Dive Supervisor is the only person in a diving operation who can decide whether it is appropriate to proceed with the dive.
  • Safety and performance efficiency are maintained when conducting all diving operations. This responsibility extends to all other project activities that are being carried out on the vessel, including those on deck.
  • The daily entries in the Supervisor's job pack forms are correct and complete. Duplicate copies are retained including damaged ones, regardless of whether they have been completed.
  • All the necessary information is handed over to the oncoming Dive Supervisor, fully briefing him/her on the status of the diving operation.
  • Be responsible for all activities related to mobilization and demobilization, including deck operations, equipment checks, inductions, briefings, and toolbox talks.
  • Review project procedures to achieve complete familiarization with all the activities and methods to be utilized. Adequate time should be allocated to reviewing the relevant aspects of work procedures before the job.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Dive Project Plan when required. Alternatively, if the plan has been produced by other personnel, such as the HSE Manager, review the document prior to each operation to ensure that it is appropriate.
  • Together with the Offshore Installation Manager, assume the responsibility that all changes are reliably recorded in the Management of Change (MOC) procedure, and that all its steps are followed, ticked off, and signed, as required.
  • Maintain communication with the bridge to ensure that the position of the vessel is appropriate while also ensuring that any changes in its position or headings are carried out in a safe and controlled manner.
  • When required, assist trainee divers, monitor their performance, and ensure that the safety of the dive team is maintained at all times. Guidance regarding the required techniques, reporting, and communication protocols shall be provided, as necessary.
  • Reporting any equipment failures, other potential hazards, near misses or accidents.
  • Signing divers logbooks after each dive and maintaining his own logbook.
  • De-briefing the diving team after the dive.
