The Mission

As the Director of Venture Creation & Growth (Pipeline), you will be the chief architect of our deep-tech spinoff pipeline, transforming intellectual property into high-growth startups that solve real-world challenges in Semiconductors, Advanced Manufacturing, AI and Sustainability.

The Role, Impact & Responsibilities

Your primary objective is to build the next generation of Singapores deep-tech unicorns.

• Strategic Pipeline Leadership: Own the roadmap for A.STAR's spinoffs, identifying winning science with the potential for massive commercial scale.
• Venture Engineering: Partner with elite venture builders, accelerators, and researchers to design and create a high-impact portfolio of deep-tech startups.
• Cultivating Entrepreneur Partners: Identify proven entrepreneurs and attract them to be part of the founding team of our deep-tech startups.
• Market Intelligence & Positioning: Provide the strategic North Star for our technologies, conducting deep-dive assessments on competitive positioning and commercial viability.

Who You Are

We are looking for a veteran of the venture ecosystem who speaks the language of both the laboratory and the commercial world.

Technical & Professional Credentials:

• The Foundation: A Degree in Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• The Experience: 15+ years of proven success in venture building and investment, specifically within Physical Sciences, Semiconductor, Advanced Manufacturing, Sustainability or AI sectors.
• The Track Record: A documented history of identifying scientific breakthroughs and scaling them into companies that have raised significant capital or achieved successful market exits.
• Startup DNA: Prior experience as a founder or an early-stage operator is highly advantageous.

• Vertical Versatility: You can pivot effortlessly between discussing deep-tech architecture and high-level commercial strategy.
• Relationship Architect: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build trust with diverse stakeholders from renowned researchers to global institutional investors.
