Role Overview

Track developments in the global technology sector and assess the market opportunities and risks created by AI and other emerging technologies. Conduct industry research, analyse publicly listed companies and interview industry experts to identify market trends and competitive shifts. Use these findings to develop practical recommendations for corporate strategy and investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct technology industry research. Track developments in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, cloud computing, optical communications and computing, software as a service (SaaS), hardware and software systems, and internet businesses. Identify market opportunities, industry risks and shifts in the competitive landscape.
Analyse publicly listed technology companies. Monitor the performance of selected companies, assess their business models, financial fundamentals and growth prospects, and produce company research reports, market commentary and investment analysis.
Interview industry experts and monitor policy developments. Build and maintain relationships with industry experts and use interviews to test key research findings. Track macroeconomic, regulatory and policy developments affecting technology markets in Greater China, Singapore and globally.
Support strategic planning and investment decisions. Conduct data analysis, develop industry forecasts and undertake targeted research for specific projects. Translate findings into actionable recommendations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams. Provide timely industry updates, participate in research meetings and present key findings and their implications for the business or its investments.
Maintain research databases and analytical tools. Update industry databases, financial models and standard research frameworks to keep data and analysis accurate and current.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor's degree or higher in science, engineering, business or a related discipline. A master's degree is preferred.
Hands-on experience collecting and organising research data, writing research reports and supporting strategic decisions.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex industry data and financial statements and identify emerging trends.
Fluency in spoken and written English, with the ability to review English-language research materials and communicate and present findings clearly.
Ability to identify key issues quickly, manage research assignments independently and meet tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
Research experience in a technology segment such as AI, semiconductors or cloud computing is preferred.
