Director - Medical Planning

Job Desctiption

. Planning, Design and Project Delivery Strategy: Drive, develop and implement design and project delivery strategies that align with the organisation's goals, identity, and market positioning.

. Planning, Design and Project Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to the design and project team, setting the creative direction, and inspiring medical planners, architects and designers to achieve their best work.

. Design, Design Development: Lead and collaborate closely with the architects and architectural designers to develop conceptual and detailed interior and architectural designs, materials specifications, and ensure alignment with client's briefs, budgets, and timelines.

. Creative Direction: Provide creative direction and guidance to medical planners, architects and designers, offering constructive feedback to enhance their work.

. Design and Project Delivery Quality Control: Drive and maintain high design and project delivery standards and review design and project delivery work to ensure it meets these standards and adheres to brand guidelines.

. Resource Management: Plan, allocate and manage design and project resources, of the medical planning team, technical team and relevant sub-consultants, to meet project demands.

. Trend and Technology Awareness: Stay updated on design and project delivery trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices to incorporate innovative design and project delivery solutions.

. Design Presentations: Present planning and design concepts and strategies to clients, executives, or stakeholders, effectively communicating the vision and rationale behind design decisions.

. Client Management: Actively interfacing and liaison with client and client representatives to achieve project approvals and milestones.

. Team Supervision and Development: Guide, supervise, and coordinate the team and assigned team members to ensure timely and objective-aligned project delivery. Provide support and direction.

. Project Management: Lead and oversee key aspects of the project, including medical planning and design, technical compliance, contracts, and execution. Ensure project aligns with cost, resource plans, and quality and regulatory standards.

. Stakeholder Liaison: Lead coordination and communication with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal team members. Chair and attend necessary meetings to maintain project alignment and to resolve issues.

. Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure project compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Oversee the preparation and submission of required documentation for approvals. Implement and monitor practice and processes to ensure quality delivery. Ensure corporate compliance with all statutory, legal, social and regulatory requirements in the execution of business strategies.

. Project Administration: Prepare fee proposals, contracts, and manage project payments. Keep the project within budget and on schedule. Maintain a sustainable Project Cost Plan by monitoring the deployment of manpower and checking on the cost effectiveness of resource deployment (time/ information/equipment) while maintaining design quality and project timelines.

. Additional Responsibilities: Take on additional management tasks as necessary, drive collaboration between project teams, and perform other project-related duties to support continuous improvement and project success.

Requirements

. At least 15 to 20 years of relevant experience in architecture, healthcare architecture and medical planning. Professional. Registered Architects and Qualified Persons would be advantageous.

. Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture. Advanced degrees or certifications in medical planning and design and/ or design management will be advantageous.

. Has comprehensive knowledge of and extensive experience leading healthcare architecture and medical planning projects, with a proven track record of successfully design and delivered design projects in a leadership role.

. Excellent understanding of full design to construction documentation, tender construction and contract administration.

. Prior experience working with healthcare clients and stakeholders in formulating and developing detailed project briefs.

. Familiar with materials and methods of construction, technical compliances, building and accessibility standards, codes and guidelines.

. Exhibits strong analytical capabilities coupled with effective management skills, including the ability to inspire and guide the team, coordinate with engineering teams and subconsultants.

. Capable of collaborating with project multi-disciplinary and architectural teams and resolving issues quickly and effectively throughout project development, from concept design through to delivery.

. Demonstrates the ability to manage time efficiently to meet challenging deadlines and client requirements, able to plan and manage resourcing for the project

. A collaborative and strategic thinker, focused on achieving optimal project outcomes.

. Possesses excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

. Creative with a keen sense of aesthetic judgment.

. Working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD and 3D modelling software, eg Autocad, Revitt.
