Director, Mechanical QA HVAC+ Fire

The role of Professional Engineering & Quality Assurance (Mechanical) requires the experience in developing new

data centre design to meet reliability and availability requirement, efficiency & sustainability benchmark (PUE &

WUE), international best practices, regulatory requirement, safety in design, cost target and speed to market.

As a team lead, he/she is accountable for the performance of the department under his/her leadership. The

candidate is responsible in providing clear objectives, manage the resources, improve the work flow, and coach the

team to meet departmental and company-wide goals. The candidate should be a specialist in his/her field in order

to provide technically sound, all-rounded and optimum solutions to the department. The candidate will motivate

and appraise his/her direct reports with the ultimate goal of alleviating the team's performance and capabilities

within a short period of time.

Responsibilities

He / She is accountable for completing the design for multiple projects in parallel (both greenfield and fit out), within

budget and program. Projects will span across regional metros.

The role must develop design brief & key metrics to ensure consistency in design quality and requirements.

The design must be concurrently maintainable, meet five nines availability, optimized for local climate conditions

and sustainable with both power & water availability.

He / She is responsible for attending to technical interview with client and vendors, developing tender and

construction drawings, drafting of tender specification, conducting technical evaluation, perform technical

download to construction and operation team, and problem solving.

He/ She shall review equipment specification, equipment shop drawing and construction drawing to ensure the

design is well coordinated with other disciplines and maintainable, code compliant, and meet build to suit

requirement.

Qualifications and Requirements

Proven design experience across regional metros

Mechanical Professional Engineer (ACMV and Fire Protection) with practicing certificate preferred

15+ years in Data Centre Detail Design; with more than 5 years in principle engineer/ MEP manager position

Experience in mechanical studies air flow modeling, heat load calculation, hydraulic calculation, computational

fluid dynamic modeling for hot air re-entrainment, rate of temperature rise simulation, boundary noise simulation,

prevailing wind influence on hot air exhaust

Experience in the design and equipment selection for make-up water tank, thermal storage tank, centralized diesel

storage and delivery system, goods lift, fireman lift

Familiar with cooling method direct & indirect evaporative cooling, closed circuit heat exchange, dry cooler,

magnetic bearing chiller, cold plate liquid cooling, immersion cooling

Experience in Chiller Plant Operation System, sequence of operation & PLC flow chart

Experience in Energy Modeling for Green Mark Data Centre

Experience in hyper scale datacenter, micro-electronics or other critical infrastructure is preferred

Proficient in English and Mandarin

Proficient in AutoCAD for design and drafting

LEED professional credentials preferred

Willing to travel based on project requirement

Track record in managing concurrent and fast-track projects, problem solving with innovative design and own the

responsibility in driving desirable outcome with both internal and external partners
