Director, Legal & Commercial (Investments)
We have been engaged by a leading Venture Capital firm to search for a Legal & Commercial Director.
This pivotal role will combine legal expertise with commercial acumen driving investments, leading negotiations, and ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions. The successful candidate will partner closely with senior leadership to shape the firms growth and strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end investment processes, including deal sourcing, structuring, negotiation, and execution.
- Provide legal and commercial input on contracts, term sheets, joint ventures, partnerships, and M&A transactions.
- Negotiate with external stakeholders (investors, partners, counterparties) to secure favourable outcomes for the business.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and governance requirements across jurisdictions.
- Collaborate with senior management and cross-border teams to align investment opportunities with the companys strategic goals.
- Manage relationships with external counsel, advisors, and regulatory authorities as required.
- Support corporate governance and board-related matters when needed.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with 5+ years PQE in corporate, commercial, or M&A practice.
- Proven experience in investments, deal negotiation, and commercial transactions, either in-house or at a leading law firm.
- Strong understanding of cross-border investment structures, compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to balance legal risk with business opportunity.
