Reporting to the Chief Human Resource Officer, the Director of Human Resource Business Partners (HRBP) will lead a team of HRBPs to drive strategic HR initiatives aligned with the university's goals. This role will focus on fostering a high-performance culture, enhancing employee engagement, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional HR services across the university.

The responsibilities of this role are:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the university's mission and objectives
  • Collaborate with the Chief HR Officer to define HR priorities and initiatives

Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of of business partners to enable them to provide strategic advice to the key stakeholders across the full spectrum of HR functions Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team environment

Business Partnering

  • Build strong relationships with university leadership and departments to understand their HR needs
  • Act as a trusted advisor, providing insights and recommendations on HR-related mattersWork closely with business and employees to enhance employee engagement and resolve employee relations issues throughout the employee life cycle
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition Centre of Excellence (COE) to ensure timely recruitment of people with the right competencies
  • Drive organizational excellence, job redesign and optimization of resources through strong partnership with the departments to deliver HR transformative initiatives
  • Promote business ownership of talent and coach managers on managing their employees career and leadership development

HR Policy Centre of Excellence

  • Review HR's strategies, policies and procedures specific to Faculty and Research Schemes. Recommend and drive changes to support the delivery of professional HR services.

The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:

  • At least 15 years of relevant experience with a minimum of 8 years in supervisory position.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of full spectrum of HR.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strategic mindset and perspective, comfortable with ambiguity with the ability to diagnose current state, anticipate future needs and recommend forward approaches.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in building rapport and trusting relationship with various stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and persuasion skills with the ability to influence without authority.
  • Resourceful and pragmatic with a solution-focused attitude.
  • Good knowledge of Employment Act and Labour Laws.
