As the Director, Health & Safety APEC (Asia Pacific excluding China), you will drive the regional Safety First strategy and vision, supporting the overall aim of preventing incidents through standardizing and implementing safety management systems, developing innovative and creative programs to improve safety culture and support legislation compliance and reduce loss..

YOUR TASKS

• Develop and implement the regional safety management system and Global Safety Policy in line with the Safety First Framework and ISO 45001.
• Design, implement and communicate safety programs for the region.
• Be a visible and credible thought leader on occupational safety, both internally and externally.
• Represent the APEC region on the Global Safety Steering Committee and collaborate on a global level to improve safety culture and awareness.
• Develop and implement online safety system platforms to monitor and manage safety risks.
• Ensure a robust safety committee and communication structure is implemented at the regional level.
• Ensure monitoring and measurement of the Safety First Framework through internal audit.
• Continually develop innovative performance indicators that support a leading approach to measurement.
• Influence and educate to lead with safety and steward a safety first culture.
• Lead major incident investigations for the region, as appropriate.
• Provide support to Country Managers, Safety Representatives and employees in the safety management system implementation.
• Support risk assessment programs and provide assistance, training and advice where necessary.
• Implement and monitor regional/country level safety audit program.
• Standardize and ensure a regional safety training program is in place.
• Produce, implement and monitor the regional safety strategy and associated plan.
• Liaise with customers on safety related issues where required.

WHAT YOU BRING

• More than 10 years of experience in Health & Safety, with at least 7 years in a leadership role with an MNC
• Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
• Certified ISO 45001 Lead/Internal Auditor, and have the knowledge of ISO45001 Health and Safety Standard and its application and techniques e.g. ISO 45001, HSG65, Behavioral Safety Programmes
• Experience in logistics preferred
• Cross-cultural competency, strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to influence change at all levels of the organization
• Proven track record of developing and implementing Health & Safety strategies in complex, multi-site environments
• Understanding of cultural variation across the Asia Pacific region and working with all levels within the organization
• Ability to adapt to different legal requirements
• Experience working in regional/global roles is an advantage
