As the Development Manager, you will oversee the delivery of endtoend big data initiatives, ensuring quality engineering practices, robust architecture, and smooth delivery for missioncritical banking platforms. You'll collaborate closely with architects, data engineers, product owners, and client stakeholders to drive modern data capabilities across the organisation.
Roles
- Lead and mentor Big Data engineering teams working on largescale Hadoopbased solutions.
- Oversee design, development, implementation, and optimisation of data pipelines and data platforms.
- Ensure effective use of Hadoop ecosystem tools such as HDFS, Hive, Spark, HBase, Oozie, Kafka, and YARN.
- Engage with banking stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into actionable technical requirements.
- Drive modern data engineering practices, automation, CI/CD, DevOps and cloudaligned delivery models.
- Manage project roadmaps, delivery timelines, risks, and resource planning across multiple streams.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and security of data platforms in line with banking standards.
- Conduct code reviews, architecture assessments, and ensure bestpractice engineering standards.
- Coordinate with crossfunctional teams-architecture, security, testing, operations-to ensure seamless delivery.
- Oversee vendor interactions, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with governance and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Development Manager, Big Data Lead, or Senior Data Engineering Manager.
- Strong hands-on or leadership experience with Hadoop ecosystems and distributed data processing technologies.
- Solid understanding of banking data environments, risk & regulatory requirements, and largescale data workloads.
- Deep experience with:Hadoop (HDFS, YARN, Hive, HBase)Spark / Scala / PySparkKafka / streaming solutions
- Experience building and leading highperforming engineering teams.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, especially within enterprise or banking environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex delivery programs with multiple dependencies.
- Understanding of cloud data technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) is beneficial.
- Strong problemsolving capabilities, structured thinking, and a deliveryfocused mindset.
- Exposure to modern data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, EMR, BigQuery, Synapse).
