- Shortlist and engage best in class consultant team (i.e. Architect, M&E, C&S, Energy, etc.) to assist in design development and tender preparation including preparation of project cost budget estimate.
- Lead new engineering technology and construction methodology research and development project that aim to continuously improving our DC energy and water efficiency, build efficiency, operation productivity and sustainability by lowering PUE, WUE and carbon emission.
- Design, construction and build of green and brown field DCs:
-Create development strategy and configuration (number and size of centres)
-Assist to identify land parcels in line with development strategy, and conduct site planning
-Identify design partners and finalize optimal design across components
-Evaluate power sources (substations) and network connectivity
-Engage Product department to understand customers design requirement and customizing projects
-Ensure on time / to specification delivery of DC
- Drive energy, water, waste efficiency along with green power for existing and new DCs
- Lead your team to conduct various engineering studies that includes technical assessment, site feasibilities studies, new technology and construction methodology research, preparation of business case for board presentation and seek approval.
- Require to be hands on as and when required on site to provide appropriate guidance/direction to the team.
- Liaise with all internal stakeholders for design requirements and manage request, incorporate them into the DC design.
- Support Sales and Product team in Engineering enquiries including attend customers engineering meeting if necessary.
- Ability to translate business requirement into executable Engineering deliverables, some deliverables may require to breakdown to deliver by various departments.
- Ability to translate complex Engineering design and requirement to non-engineering trained business Senior Leadership Team and/or customers.
- Lead Engineering design innovation to continuously enhance our design for better efficiency to lower PUE and WUE, lower construction cost and shorter build time. Our PUE expectation for PUE and WUE are below 1.2 and below 1.7 respectively in tropical climates in Southeast Asia countries.
- Responsible for assisting CDEO in creating strategic Engineering plans to meet business requirement and ensuring their successful implementation.
- Management of work activities, planning and engineering manpower resources
- Require leading, mentor, and guide teams, evaluating your direct reports performance, provide support, and fostering a positive work environment to achieve high work standards and productivity.
- Collaboration with other departments, JVCOs and stakeholders to achieve assign goals, ensuring smooth communication, work delivery and integration across the organisation.
- A crucial aspect of the role is developing the next generation of leaders by mentoring mid-level managers and support CDEO to build a robust talent pipeline.
- Timely address and resolve challenges, obstacles, and operational issues, ensuring smooth operations within your domain.
- Require to support crisis management and will be a member of crisis management team
- Other relevant duties to the role and responsibilities may be assigned to you from time to time for supporting the business growth of our organization
Skills to Success :
- At least 15 years of working experience and 10 years in people management.
- A minimum of 10 years proven experience in data centre DC design, development and engineering works. Preferable for someone performing similar duties in existing Data Centre environment.
- Candidate with extensive DC experience in similar work aspects and a proven people leader will consider for Senior Director role.
- Min. bachelor's degree in relevant studies such as Mechanical, Electrical, etc.
- Strong M&E background with ability to lead design requirement, identify SPOF, oversee engineering fault analysis and ability to solve complex engineering problems such as cooling, power, etc.
- Good communication, presentation and writing skills in English.
- Good financial knowledge to oversee project cost control and management
- Position requires travelling (approx. 20% to 30%). May require supporting ad hoc travelling with short notice to assist JVCOs in urgent engineering project relate matters.
