Job Description

Role Overview

The Business Development Director at Opptra will lead the acquisition, onboarding, and growth of premium global consumer brands across Asia, with Singapore as a strategic hub. This role owns the end-to-end business development lifecyclefrom lead generation and qualification to negotiation, deal closure, and long-term partnership success.

The role requires deep category expertise in fashion and beauty, strong CXO-level relationships, advanced marketplace understanding, and the ability to collaborate closely with internal LOB leaders to deliver scalable, high-margin growth.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead Generation, Qualification & Business Development Operations

  • Define and continuously refine Ideal Customer Profiles (ICP) aligned to Opptra's strategic priorities
  • Build and manage a high-quality lead funnel using data-driven lead scoring and prioritization
  • Qualify prospects based on brand size, online presence, geography, product range, budget, authority, need, and timelines
  • Conduct structured discovery meetings to understand brand pain points, growth objectives, and market-entry needs
  • Act as a trusted advisor to prospects, building credibility and long-term engagement

2. Solution Mapping & Customer Engagement

  • Map Opptra's marketplace, SIS, and expansion solutions to specific brand needs
  • Collaborate with internal LOB heads and category leaders to design customized market-entry strategies
  • Develop and present compelling, brand-first proposals and value propositions
  • Maintain consistent, multi-channel communication with prospects and partners
  • Proactively handle objections and align solutions to brand priorities

3. Stakeholder Alignment & Decision Facilitation

  • Identify and engage key client-side stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Facilitate internal alignment across commercial, category, operations, legal, and tech teams
  • Guide global brands through procurement, legal, compliance, and technical due diligence processes
  • Ensure smooth transition from signed deal to onboarding and launch

4. Negotiation & Deal Closure

  • Lead complex, multi-stakeholder negotiations with global and premium brands
  • Structure commercial terms that balance brand expectations with Opptra's revenue and margin goals
  • Collaborate closely with category and LOB leaders to close joint wins
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of global brand expectations across commercial, marketing, and operational dimensions

5. Cultural Leadership, Talent & Network Development

  • Lead with integrity, transparency, and high ethical standards
  • Demonstrate conviction, decisiveness, and ownership in fast-growth environments
  • Set and uphold high performance standards for self and team
  • Proactively contribute ideas to build and scale Opptra's business
  • Leverage a strong professional network across fashion, beauty, and retail ecosystems
  • Support hiring and talent identification across category management, brand management, marketing, and retail operations

Experience & Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in business development, sales, brand partnerships, or category leadership
  • Proven track record of building or scaling premium/global brands in SEA
  • Experience working with online marketplaces and offline retail ecosystems
  • Demonstrated success in onboarding global brands and closing complex deals
  • Prior leadership experience managing teams and cross-functional stakeholders
