Job Description

The Visual Merchandising Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive training programs on visual merchandising techniques for retail spaces. This role focuses on teaching retail professionals how to create engaging, Instagrammable store environments that enhance customer experience and drive sales through effective visual presentation and space utilization.

Key Responsibilities

Training Development & Delivery:

  • Design and deliver a 16-hour Visual Merchandising for Retail Spaces training program.
  • Conduct engaging in-person and online training sessions on visual merchandising principles.
  • Create and update training materials aligned with WSQ certification standards.
  • Assess trainee competency through written, practical, and oral assessments.
  • Maintain a minimum 75% attendance rate for all training cohorts.

Visual Merchandising Expertise

  • Train retail professionals on principles of design and space utilization.
  • Teach techniques for creating effective point-of-purchase (POP) displays.
  • Demonstrate methods to optimize display effectiveness and customer flow.
  • Provide instruction on creating social media-worthy retail environments.
  • Guide trainees on integrating online visual merchandising with in-store experiences.

Industry Engagement

  • Stay current with retail visual merchandising trends and innovations.
  • Build relationships with retail industry partners for practical training opportunities.
  • Participate in retail industry events to maintain knowledge of best practices.
  • Collect and incorporate industry feedback to enhance training relevance.
  • Support brainstorming sessions for innovative promotional display ideas.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in retail visual merchandising.
  • ACLP/ACTA certified.
  • Proven experience in training or teaching roles.
  • Strong understanding of retail space design and customer flow principles.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Passionate about mentoring and nurturing creative talent.
  • (Preferred) Prior teaching or training experience in an academic or vocational setting.
