Diesel Engine Engineer

Key Responsibilities

1. Engine Maintenance and Repair

Perform maintenance, inspection, and repair of marine diesel engines.

Conduct engine overhauls, troubleshooting, and fault diagnosis.

Service key engine components including fuel systems, lubrication systems, and cooling systems.

2. Technical Support

Provide technical support during vessel repair and maintenance projects.

Assist in commissioning and testing of marine diesel engines.

Prepare technical reports and service documentation.

3. Engine Troubleshooting

Diagnose mechanical faults and engine performance issues.

Implement corrective actions to restore engine functionality.

Ensure minimal downtime during vessel operations.

4. Project Execution

Participate in marine engineering projects including vessel repair, dry docking, and engine upgrades.

Coordinate with project engineers and technical teams.

Ensure project tasks are completed according to schedule and technical specifications.

5. Safety and Compliance

Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.

Follow maritime industry standards and classification society requirements.

Maintain proper documentation for inspection and maintenance records.

6. Equipment and Tools Management

Ensure proper use and maintenance of engineering tools and equipment.

Report equipment defects and recommend replacements when necessary.

Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

Minimum 3-5 years experience in marine diesel engine maintenance.

Experience working with marine engines such as MAN B&W, Wärtsilä, Daihatsu, or Yanmar is an advantage.

Familiarity with ship repair, engine overhaul, and marine propulsion systems.

Ability to read technical drawings and manuals.

Willingness to travel for overseas vessel service assignments.

Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
