DevOps Engineer -

Job Description

Responsible for enabling secure, scalable, and automated deployment pipelines across government digital platforms. The DevOps Engineer will support mission‑critical systems, ensuring reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement of CI/CD practices. The role interacts with product owners, developers, infrastructure teams, and cybersecurity stakeholders, driving modern engineering practices that accelerate delivery while safeguarding public‑sector systems.

Key Responsibilities

. Design and implement CI/CD pipelines to support secure, automated deployments across multiple environments.

. Manage container orchestration platforms (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker) to ensure scalability, resilience, and compliance.

. Collaborate with developers and architects to integrate DevOps practices into application design and delivery.

. Monitor and optimise system performance using observability tools, ensuring high availability of government applications.

. Implement security controls and compliance checks aligned with public‑sector standards (e.g. SHIP‑HATS).

. Support incident and problem management by troubleshooting deployment, infrastructure, and environment issues.

. Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) tools where applicable.

. Document processes, configurations, and standards to ensure knowledge transfer and audit readiness.

. Engage vendors and external partners to align DevOps practices with government frameworks.

. Champion continuous improvement by introducing new tools, practices, and automation opportunities.

Requirements

. Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes and Docker.

. Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.

. Familiarity with DevOps practices in production environments.

. Experience in deployment automation and environment management.

. Understanding of secure software delivery in regulated environments.

. Minimum 5 years in DevOps, system engineering, or related roles.

. Proven track record supporting large‑scale applications or platforms.

. Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.

. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

. Effective communication and stakeholder management.

. Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers.

. Experience with SHIP‑HATS or other Singapore Government compliance frameworks.

. Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

. Knowledge of Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools (Terraform, Ansible).

. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery.

. Relevant certifications (CKA, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, etc.).

. Domain Experience in Government / Public Sector technology delivery or Citizen services, e‑government platforms, or compliance‑driven environments.

. Programming / Scripting: Shell, Python, Groovy.

. Containers: Docker, Kubernetes.

. CI/CD Tools: Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps

. Cloud: AWS, Azure, GCP.

. Infrastructure‑as‑Code: Terraform, Ansible.
