Overview: Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. Responsibilities

Job Description:

The Datacenter Engineering Design Manager will manage the engineering scope, schedule, and budget for greenfield, brownfield andretrofitengineering / designprojects. This specific position will manage internal and external resources for the delivery of the Datacenter building, power, cooling, telecom, and controls infrastructure to align with Microsoft Corporation datacenter capacity roadmap for the APAC region.

The DatacenterDesign Managerwill be responsible for thefacilitation and deliveryof Microsoft's industry-leading datacenterdesigns including the development of innovative technology and advanced concepts from Site Due Diligence through design development,permitting,construction, and the turnover toOperations. This role will provide design management, technical direction, decision-making and overall leadershipfor our datacenter designs. To be successful in this role the candidate will overseethedelivery ofmultiple, concurrent,completeDatacenter designsolutionsaligned with the scopes, schedules,and budgetsof the projects. TheDesignManagerwill engage with key MS stakeholder groups withinMicrosoftas well as outside vendorswhospecialize in datacenter architecture and engineering.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support the network growth/upgrade refresh project pipeline across the APAC Region, specifically:
    • Investigation and project scoping
    • Working with external and internal stakeholders to undertake feasibility study
    • Provide findings and internal reporting from the feasibility study, and provide proposed solution and programme
    • Implementation management and overseeing compliance to the execution process
  • Support built pipeline, including:
    • Coordinatea team of architects, engineers and designers and deliver projects aligned with the defined scope, schedule, and budget.
    • Collaborate with on-site operations teams to perform feasibility / Gap analysis for conversion of existing data center spaces to new / upgraded uses.
  • Haveexcellentcommunication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Possess a high level ofproficiencyin commercial and industrial architecture andengineeringwith a primary focus on datacenter design.
  • Must be able to work with other technical and non-technical groups in a fast-pacedenvironmentand do sowith an even temperament.
  • Must be a person of integrity,bemethodical,detailed-orientedwith a strongwork ethic.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Telecoms/Networksor related field.
  • Technical understanding of mission critical environments
  • Strongwritten and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead team of architects and engineers in advanced engineering and operational processes and procedures as they relate to large data center environments.
  • Strong and demonstrated construction delivery experience (on project management/coordination, design integration, GC/Trade procurement)
  • Demonstrated commercial experience specifically around contract management

These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
