Deputy Operations Manager (Demurrage)

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Deputy Operations Manager (Demurrage) to oversee and manage demurrage-related operations within our shipping/logistics business. The successful candidate will play a key role in minimizing operational delays, ensuring accurate demurrage calculations, and optimising vessel turnaround performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage all demurrage and dispatch activities across vessel operations

• Review and verify Statements of Facts (SOF) and laytime calculations

• Ensure timely and accurate demurrage billing and claims handling

• Liaise with port authorities, vessel masters, agents, and charterers for operational coordination

• Identify causes of delays and implement cost-saving and efficiency improvements

• Support resolution of demurrage disputes and discrepancies

• Ensure compliance with charter party terms and contractual agreements

• Prepare and analyze operational and demurrage performance reports

• Assist the Operations Manager in overseeing daily operations and team coordination

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Shipping, or related field

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in shipping operations, demurrage, or chartering

• Strong knowledge of laytime, SOF, and demurrage/dispatch calculations

• Familiar with port operations and vessel turnaround processes

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, operations-driven environment

Preferred Skills

• Experience in container / tanker / bulk shipping operations

• Familiarity with maritime systems and reporting tools

• Knowledge of local port regulations (e.g., Singapore port operations)
