Role Overview
The Deputy Finance Director, Singapore & SEA is accountable for timely and high‑quality financial reporting, statutory and tax compliance, balance sheet integrity, and strong internal controls, while ensuring full compliance with Group policies and reporting requirements across Singapore and Southeast Asia entities.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Timely Submission
- Lead and ensure timely, accurate, and high‑quality monthly, quarterly, and annual financial submissions in line with Group reporting timelines.
- Review and challenge financial results, key judgments, and estimates to ensure consistency, completeness, and accuracy.
- Act as the key regional finance contact during Group consolidation, audits, and management reporting cycles.
Statutory, Regulatory & Tax Compliance
- Oversee local statutory financial statements, ensuring compliance with local accounting standards, Companies Act requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Ensure direct and indirect tax compliance, including corporate income tax, withholding tax, GST / VAT, and transfer pricing requirements where applicable.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulators to resolve issues efficiently and on time.
Balance Sheet Integrity & Financial Governance
- Maintain strong balance sheet ownership, ensuring reconciliations, provisions, accruals, intercompany balances, and reserves are robust, supportable, and well‑documented.
- Lead balance sheet reviews and remediation actions to address aged, unusual, or high‑risk items.
- Ensure accounting treatments are aligned with Group accounting policies and applicable accounting standards.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Ensure effective internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) are designed, implemented, and operating effectively across the region.
- Drive remediation of control deficiencies and audit findings in collaboration with Internal Audit and Group Finance.
- Ensure strict adherence to Group policies, financial governance frameworks, and delegated authority matrices.
- Stakeholder Management & Leadership
- Partner closely with Group Finance, Business Leaders, Tax, Treasury, and Internal Audit to support regional business needs while safeguarding control and compliance.
- Lead, coach, and develop regional finance teams to strengthen capability, accountability, and succession planning.
- Support finance transformation initiatives, system implementations, and process improvements led by Group.
Qualification & Experience
- Chartered Accountant or equivalent professional qualification (e.g. CA, ACA, CPA).
- Minimum 12 years of progressive finance experience, preferably with regional or multinational exposure.
- Strong background in group reporting, statutory accounting, and balance sheet management.
- Proven experience managing audits, tax matters, and internal control frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience in complex group environments, system implementations, or finance transformation initiatives preferred.
