The Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM), a non-profit organisation founded in 1997, with the objective of raising the standards of civil behaviour and responsibility. SKM is a catalyst and collaborates with partners to activate and implement kindness initiatives that aim to improve kindness and graciousness in Singapore.
Summary of role
The Deputy Director (Partnerships) provides support to Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM) in the area of Partnerships (outreach to people, public and private sectors) to foster a kinder and gracious society. He/she is responsible for developing strategic relationships with identified partners in accordance with the organisation's objective, goals and strategies. This includes engaging new partners, gaining sponsorship, driving joint campaigns and events.
He/She reports to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides strategic directions to ensure growth and sustainability of key partners within the 3P network
- Meets with new partners to support SKM's mission and vision
- Maintains good rapport and synergy with partners
- Sets annual budget in consultation with the Deputy Director (Finance)
- Ensures financial prudence and accountability within the Partnerships team
- Approves financial expenses and processes on SKM's procurement platforms (including TenderBoard) as the Appointed Head
- Reports KPI to MCCY and SKM Council on a quarterly basis
- Conceptualises and executes annual Kindness Day SG programmes and National Kindness Awards
- Oversees logistics and operations in relation to programmes
- Ensures all marketing efforts are in-line with SKM's overall branding
- Arranges for media opportunities at appropriate events in consultation with the Strategic Marketing and Communications team
- Oversees projects handled by the Partnerships team
- Fosters synergy and kinship amongst Partnerships team members, and across SKM
- Conducts appraisal for Partnerships team members.
Required Skills & Competencies
Education & Experience
- Masters or Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Social Sciences or a related field.
- At least 8 - 10 years of relevant experience in partnership management, stakeholder engagement, or programme/event management.
- Experience in partnership strategy, public engagement, or community development is an advantage.
Technical & Functional
- Strong capability in developing partnership strategies aligned with organisational missions.
- Experience overseeing national or large-scale programmes
- Proficiency in measuring programme impact through data analytics including designing KPIs, tracking outcomes, and using insights into strategic decisions and demonstrating value to funders/stakeholders
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and financial oversight responsibilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain brand consistency across campaigns and partner communications
- Experience supporting or coordinating media engagement.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing and developing teams, including the ability to identify capability and performance gaps, guide the team in developing solutions to bridge them, and ensure the Partnerships team's contributions deliver meaningful value to SKM as a whole
- Proven ability to identify emerging opportunities and convert them into strategic partnerships that advance SKM's mission, including cultivating leads and developing value propositions
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and high governance standards.
- Creative, innovative, and able to conceptualise new partnership-driven initiatives.
- Passion for community building and furthering the mission of cultivating kindness in Singapore.
