Job Title: Assistant Director / Deputy Director, Clinical Governance & Quality (CGQ)

We are seeking an experienced healthcare professional to join our Clinical Governance & Quality department in a senior leadership role. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management, clinical chiefs, and key institutional stakeholders to drive quality, patient safety, and clinical governance initiatives across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Quality & Patient Safety
  • Oversee all quality improvement and patient safety work, and related training programmes and initiatives. These include Serious Reportable Events (SRE), Mortality and Morbidity Reviews, Patient Safety Walkabouts, and clinical risk management activities, as well as training programmes such as the Clinical Practice Improvement Programme (CPIP), QI Toolkit, and QIPS Training & Community of Practice.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation
  • Lead and provide oversight on institutional compliance with Joint Commission International (JCI) standards and the Ensure Safer System programme, and with MOH HCSA requirements and other applicable regulatory frameworks.
  • Oversee the preparation for the audits and hospital-wide accreditation process, and support departments in implementing requirements and closing audit findings.
  • Data Analytics & Reporting
  • Oversee the monitoring of clinical quality and patient safety indicators, and generation of related data for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Departmental Administration & Staff Management
  • Manage the day-to-day administrative functions of the CGQ department, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Provide supervision and management of department staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • General / Other Duties as Assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Chairman, Medical Board (Clinical Quality & Safety) and the Chairman Medical Board.

For Deputy Director position, candidates would need to additionally perform the following:

  • Clinical Governance & Committee Support
  • Oversee the organisation and administration of key committees and meetings supported by CGQ as secretariat, such as the Quality & Value Council, Clinical Audit & Documentation Standards Committee, Clinical Ethics Committee, Medical Accreditation & Credentialing Committee, Clinical Board, Clinical Chiefs, and Senior and Junior Doctors Meetings, ensuring smooth coordination, documentation, and follow-through of key matters.

Job Requirements

  • Degree holder with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in the healthcare industry, with at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role. Candidates with a minimum 10 years of relevant experience will be considered for the Deputy Director position.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical governance processes, quality and patient safety concepts, and tools.
  • Good understanding of JCI hospital standards and MOH HCSA requirements.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Able to work well under pressure, independently and in a team.
  • Able to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
  • Prior experience in quality improvement training and/or accreditation processes is a must.
