Job Description

Role Purpose

The Deputy Director, Finance supports the Director, Finance in maintaining strong financial governance while strengthening the organisation's planning, reporting, and performance insight capabilities. The role retains oversight of core financial control and reporting disciplines, while taking on a broader role in budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, financial analysis, and finance business partnering to support better management decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Reporting & Governance

  • Oversee financial reporting across entities and funds, ensuring consistency in accounting treatment, reporting standards, and compliance requirements
  • Ensure integrity and timeliness of month-end and year-end closing processes, including review of reconciliations, schedules, and management reports
  • Strengthen and maintain internal controls across finance operations, and drive timely closure of audit observations and control gaps
  • Support audit processes, including engagement with external auditors and follow-through on audit matters

2. Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning

  • Lead and coordinate the annual budgeting process and periodic forecast reviews across departments
  • Strengthen financial discipline by ensuring alignment between workplans, budgets, and resource allocation
  • Support scenario planning and financial projections to guide organisational planning and decision-making

3. Finance Operations & Process

  • Oversee core finance operations, including payment processes, vendor governance, and financial administration controls
  • Lead the review and enhancement of finance SOPs, policies, and internal guidance

4. Systems, Projects & Transformation

  • Serve as Finance lead for systems-related initiatives, including upgrades, implementation, UAT coordination, and reporting enhancements
  • Support the strengthening of finance systems and tools to improve reporting, planning, and operational efficiency

5. Finance Advisory & Business Partnering

  • Provide finance advisory support to departments on budgets, proposals, and key initiatives, ensuring sound financial and governance considerations

6. Team Leadership

  • Guide and supervise finance staff across assigned workstreams, ensuring quality, timeliness, and accountability

Requirements

  • Degree in Accountancy, Finance, Economics, Business, or related discipline
  • Professional qualification such as CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent preferred
  • At least 10 to 15 years of relevant experience across financial reporting, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, finance business partnering, or controllership
  • Strong grounding in financial controls and reporting, with ability to also support planning and performance analysis
  • Experience preparing reports or analyses for senior management decision-making
  • Strong analytical, stakeholder management, and communication skills
  • Experience in finance systems, reporting tools, or dashboards is an advantage
