DB2 Database Administrator

The Opportunity

• Install, configure, upgrade, and patch IBM DB2 database systems (LUW and/or z/OS).
• Monitor and tune overall database performance, including detailed SQL query optimization and indexing strategies.
• Analyze and optimize slow-running queries to improve application performance.
• Manage backup and recovery strategies using DB2 native tools or third-party solutions.
• Implement and maintain database security, including access control and auditing.
• Support data migration, replication, and integration efforts.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance, availability, and data integrity.
• Collaborate with developers to design efficient schemas and optimize SQL used in applications.
• Maintain documentation for all DB2 database environments, including configurations, procedures, and standards.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.

Your Background

• Strong expertise in DB2 LUW and/or z/OS.
• Proficiency in SQL performance tuning and optimization techniques.
• Experience with HADR, replication, and clustering technologies.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like IBM Data Studio, Tivoli, or other relevant platforms.
• Knowledge of database design, normalization, and indexing.
• Comfortable with OS platforms (AIX, Linux, Windows) and their integration with DB2.
• Experience with DevOps tools, automation, or Infrastructure as Code is a plus.
