The Opportunity
- Install, configure, upgrade, and patch IBM DB2 database systems (LUW and/or z/OS).
- Monitor and tune overall database performance, including detailed SQL query optimization and indexing strategies.
- Analyze and optimize slow-running queries to improve application performance.
- Manage backup and recovery strategies using DB2 native tools or third-party solutions.
- Implement and maintain database security, including access control and auditing.
- Support data migration, replication, and integration efforts.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance, availability, and data integrity.
- Collaborate with developers to design efficient schemas and optimize SQL used in applications.
- Maintain documentation for all DB2 database environments, including configurations, procedures, and standards.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
Your Background
- Strong expertise in DB2 LUW and/or z/OS.
- Proficiency in SQL performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Experience with HADR, replication, and clustering technologies.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools like IBM Data Studio, Tivoli, or other relevant platforms.
- Knowledge of database design, normalization, and indexing.
- Comfortable with OS platforms (AIX, Linux, Windows) and their integration with DB2.
- Experience with DevOps tools, automation, or Infrastructure as Code is a plus.
