Database Reliability Engineer

Responsibilities

• Migrate on-premises Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases to Azure database services, including Azure SQL, Oracle on Azure, and PostgreSQL.
• Design, implement, and maintain automated, self-service database provisioning and operational capabilities using Golang, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and platform tooling.
• Enable application teams to onboard to Azure database services and modernize database workloads, including migration to PostgreSQL where feasible.
• Establish reliable, automated, and observable database operations aligned with cloud architecture, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
• Collaborate with application, cloud platform, and vendor teams to support database migration, operations, and platform enablement.
• Apply database reliability practices and ensure compliance with enterprise security, regulatory, and operational requirements.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise environments, including 1–2 years in a Database Reliability Engineering (DBRE) role.
• Proven experience migrating on-premises databases to Azure database services, with knowledge of Azure SQL, Oracle on Azure, PostgreSQL, Azure architecture, and cloud operations.
• Experience developing database automation and self-service capabilities using Golang, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), or platform tooling.
• Strong understanding of database reliability, DevOps/SRE principles, and the you build it, you run it approach.
• Prior experience in software engineering or cloud platform enablement teams, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work in complex enterprise environments with compliance and regulatory constraints.
• Experience migrating Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server databases to PostgreSQL, Azure database, architecture, or SRE certifications, database assessment and migration tools, and Agile frameworks such as SAFe are preferred.
