Database Administrator 1

About the Role

We are looking for a Database Administrator I with 1–3 years of experience to help keep our database platforms secure, fast, and reliable. In this role, you will primarily focus on day-to-day operations, incident troubleshooting, and maintaining the health of our core relational databases

.

This is an excellent opportunity for growth. While your core focus will be on our primary data layer, you will have the opportunity to expand your skill set by getting hands-on exposure to NoSQL (MongoDB), modern cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure), and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) as you grow alongside our senior infrastructure teams.

Key responsibilities:

• Database Operations: Monitor database health, replication lag, resource utilization, and manage user access controls following security best practices.
• Backup & Recovery: Perform and validate routine backups, retention checks, and assist with disaster recovery (DR) testing.
• Incident Support: Investigate basic to intermediate performance issues, and participate in incident response to minimize downtime.
• Collaboration: Partner with developers to support schema changes, deployments, and basic query tuning.
• Automation & Growth: Automate routine manual tasks using Python or Bash, and gradually learn to execute infrastructure updates using modern tools like Terraform

Required

• 1–3 years of experience in a Database Administrator or database-focused operations role.
• Hands-on experience administering either MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and basic networking concepts.
• Experience writing basic scripts (Bash or Python) to automate simple tasks.
• A strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new technologies.

Nice-to-Have

• Hands-on experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with cloud database infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code practices (Terraform)
