Job Description
The Data & System Integration Architect owns two closely related architecture domains for HOYA: enterprise data architecture and system integration. On the data side, the role sets the target architecture, standards and reference patterns for Lakehouse, warehouse, master data and data products. On the integration side, it governs how data platforms, business applications, SaaS solutions, APIs, events and file-based exchanges connect securely and reliably across divisions and corporate functions. The role guides integration choices across SAP, Salesforce, Dynamics 365, ServiceNow and other enterprise platforms. It ensures designs meet requirements for security, identity, resilience, observability, scalability, performance and lifecycle management. The architect provides architecture assurance for strategic initiatives, reduces point-to-point complexity through reusable APIs and event-driven patterns, and partners with Group Data & AI, security, enterprise architecture and division technology teams to build and govern the common data and integration layer that divisions share, which also supports AI and agent-enabled solutions.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to develop and maintain HOYA's data architecture strategy, target state, principles, standards and roadmap, aligned with enterprise architecture, business, analytics, AI and governance priorities.
- Define reference architectures and reusable patterns for Lakehouse, warehouse, operational data stores, data products, metadata, lineage, master data and secure data sharing.
- Set enterprise data-modelling standards covering conceptual, logical and physical models, canonical data structures, domain boundaries and common business definitions.
- Guide data platform and storage decisions across Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services and enterprise applications, balancing interoperability, governance, performance, resilience and cost.
- Work with data-governance and security teams to ensure data architectures embed quality, ownership, classification, retention, privacy, access control, lineage and lifecycle requirements.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to develop and maintain the system-integration strategy, target architecture, principles, standards and roadmap, aligned with HOYA business and technology priorities.
- Assess current-state integrations, platforms, interfaces and technical debt. Define transition architectures and a prioritized modernization plan.
- Design and publish reference architectures and reusable patterns for APIs, events, messaging, workflows, data movement, managed file transfer, SaaS integration and hybrid connectivity.
- Lead the architecture of complex integrations spanning Azure, SAP, Salesforce, Dynamics 365, ServiceNow, data platforms, legacy systems and external partners.
- Select and govern the right Integration Services for each need, including API Management, Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus, and complementary services, weighing capability, cost, resilience and supportability.
- Define non-functional requirements and architecture controls for availability, disaster recovery, scalability, latency, observability, data integrity, privacy and regulatory compliance.
- Build Zero Trust principles into integration designs, including managed identities, least privilege, secrets and certificate management, network segmentation, encryption and auditability.
- Run architecture reviews, document decisions and exceptions, and identify risks. Make sure remediation is complete before production approval.
- Support vendor evaluation, build-versus-buy decisions, capacity planning and cost optimization.
- Ensure AI and agent integrations use controlled identities, approved APIs and tools, least-privilege access, auditable actions and appropriate security monitoring.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, software engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of technology experience, including substantial experience leading enterprise data or integration architecture.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, govern designs and communicate architecture decisions clearly to business and technical audiences.
- Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification is required. Additional Azure Developer or Security certification is beneficial.
- TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture certification is beneficial.
Experience
- Extensive expertise with Azure Integration Services, including API Management, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Service Bus and Event Grid.
- Deep knowledge of API-led, event-driven, messaging, workflow, service-oriented and file-based integration patterns.
- Proven architecture experience integrating SAP, Salesforce, Dynamics 365, ServiceNow, data platforms and enterprise SaaS or legacy applications.
- Hands-on experience with integration platforms such as Boomi or Informatica for enterprise application and data integration, including process orchestration, connector configuration, deployment, monitoring and governance.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID integration, OIDC authentication, OAuth 2.0 delegated/API authorization, SAML 2.0 federation and approved legacy Kerberos; managed identities, certificate and secrets management, network security, Zero Trust and data protection.
- Experience developing target architecture, reference patterns, technology roadmaps, architecture standards and governance frameworks.
- Strong command of non-functional architecture including resilience, scalability, latency, observability, disaster recovery, supportability and cost management.
- Experience leading solution assurance, technical risk assessment, architecture review and exception management across multiple delivery teams.
- Experience with integration platform operating models, product management, vendor governance and large-scale modernization programs.
- Knowledge of agentic architecture, AI tool integration and Agent Security Posture Management, including agent identity, tool permissions, data exposure and action monitoring.
