Both positions require a strong foundation in Data Science and Machine Learning, including model development, experimentation, and diagnosing performance issues.

Common requirements include:

• Strong ML model development capabilities

• Proficiency in Python

• Experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and scikit-learn

• Experience in applied research and experimentation

• Strong curiosity and problem-solving mindset

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain data science concepts

• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams within fast-paced, collaborative environments

Role 1: Data Scientist (Mirage)

Focus

Embedded within a product team, this role focuses on shipping features and solving real user problems.

Key Requirements

• Strong Data Science / ML expertise

• Hands-on ML model development

• Python programming

• Ability to integrate ML models into production environments

• Comfortable working closely with engineers and product teams

Bonus (Highly Beneficial but Not Mandatory)

• Backend development experience (FastAPI, Flask)

• Cloud experience (AWS)

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines

Ideal Profile

Best suited for candidates who enjoy hands-on building, integrating models into products, solving user issues, and working closely with engineering teams.

Role 2: Data Scientist (Data Practice)

Focus

Focused on exploratory research and agency pilots, particularly around testing Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PET) adoption.

Key Requirements

• Strong ML experimentation and applied research experience

• Python programming

• Strong experiment design and evaluation capabilities

• Ability to synthesise and apply academic research

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and solving novel problems

Ideal Profile

Best suited for candidates who enjoy exploring emerging technologies, conducting research pilots, engaging with agency users, and driving experimentation initiatives.
