Job Description

The Data Governance & Data Management Lead is responsible for leading the organisation's enterprise data strategy and governance to ensure that data is reliable, well-managed, and fit for operational, management, and regulatory reporting. The role ensures that enterprise systems align with data governance principles. A key focus is establishing clear accountability for data ownership and stewardship across business domains while driving improvements in data quality and enabling data-driven decision-making.

The role defines and executes the enterprise data strategy and roadmap, aligning data initiatives with organisational priorities and transformation programmes. It promotes data literacy, strengthens governance practices, and builds analytics capabilities to support better decision-making. This includes partnering with both business and technology stakeholders to embed data governance into operations and ensure consistent adoption across the organisation.

A significant part of the role involves establishing robust data governance frameworks, including policies, standards, and governance forums such as data councils. The Data Governance & Data Management Lead also oversees the development of enterprise data models, master data structures, and reporting standards, ensuring consistency in definitions and metrics. In addition, the role builds trusted data foundations through data quality controls, validation processes, and reduced reliance on manual reporting, while supporting modern analytics platforms.

Finally, the role ensures compliance with regulatory and audit requirements by implementing data lineage, documentation, and traceability standards. It provides oversight of data architecture in collaboration with IT, ensuring alignment between systems, integrations, and governance standards. The position requires extensive experience in data governance and architecture, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional transformation initiatives in complex enterprise environments.
