Position: Data Management Executive (Contract)

- 7.5-month contract (Immediate start)
- 42 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
You will work closely with the DCR Data Manager to:
- Handle V3 data queries and requests from government agencies, Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs), Research Institutes (RIs), private entities, and the public.
- Manage DCR data collections on the National Supercomputing Centre (NSCC) platform, including V3 data and other observational datasets.
Your role will include:
- Monitoring the organisation's email inbox and ensuring timely responses to V3 data queries.
- Ensuring the MSS Data Sharing Form is completed accurately by data requestors.
- Processing data requests within 7 days, following the MSS Data Sharing Procedure for standard/time-sensitive datasets.
- Working in a Linux environment and accessing the NSCC to retrieve and extract required data.
- Maintaining logs of V3 data requests.
- Updating the external V3 Data Catalogue (Excel-based) for public/agency reference.
- Creating and maintaining the internal V3 Data Collections Inventory.
- Supporting the creation of a digital V3 data catalog using the Python Intake package and exploring cloud-friendly formats for efficient data storage.
- Undertaking other data-related tasks as delegated by the Supervisor.
Position Requirements
- Familiarity with High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments (Linux).
- Proficiency in handling, processing, and serving large datasets (hundreds of TB).
- Strong skills in Bash scripting and Python (Xarray library).
- Ability to work independently and learn quickly on the job.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and meticulous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- 1-2 years of prior experience in data/information management.
- Familiarity with the NetCDF file format (for geospatial/gridded data).
- Experience with online documentation tools (e.g., Confluence).
- Knowledge of the Python Intake package.
- Familiarity with Conda/Mamba package managers in Python.
- Understanding of cloud-friendly data formats (e.g., Zarr).
