Data Engineer (AWS, Denodo, Python, SQL) – Singapore Citizens / PR Only (18 months Contract)

Rhino Partners is hiring experienced Data Engineers to support the development and maintenance of enterprise data products within a large-scale data platform environment. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy building robust data pipelines, designing scalable data models, and working with modern AWS-based analytics platforms.

You will work closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Data Analysts, and Solution Architects to deliver high-quality, data-driven solutions that support analytics, reporting, and AI initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Platform Development

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS services such as Glue, Athena, S3, and RDS
• Build and maintain automated data ingestion pipelines from internal and external systems
• Develop API integrations to collect and process data from third-party sources
• Perform data extraction, cleansing, transformation, and loading operations
• Work with data virtualisation tools such as Denodo and develop VQL queries

Data Modelling & Architecture

• Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models using tools such as ER/Studio
• Develop and maintain data warehouses, data lakes, operational data stores, and data marts
• Create analytical views and semantic layers to support BI and reporting needs
• Maintain enterprise data blueprints and architecture documentation
• Apply data governance, metadata, and master data management (MDM) best practices

Application Development & Integration

• Develop Python scripts in AWS Glue for data processing and automation
• Write efficient SQL and VQL queries, stored procedures, and transformations
• Build RESTful APIs to expose data services
• Support machine learning model deployment and integration using AWS SageMaker
• Optimise database performance through indexing, query tuning, and maintenance

DevOps & Delivery

• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and related tools
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
• Conduct peer code reviews and collaborate through pair programming
• Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and compliant with enterprise standards

Documentation & Stakeholder Collaboration

• Produce and maintain technical documentation for pipelines, models, and architecture
• Work with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions
• Provide technical guidance and support for data-related initiatives

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience in Data Engineering or a similar role
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and SQL
• Experience with AWS services including Glue, Athena, S3, RDS, and SageMaker
• Experience with Denodo or other data virtualisation platforms
• Strong understanding of data modelling and database design principles
• Experience building data warehouses, data lakes, and data marts
• Familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau or Microsoft Power BI
• Experience with GitLab and CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Nice to Have

• Experience with AWS Bedrock, Azure AI, or Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Knowledge of data governance and MDM frameworks
• Exposure to machine learning deployment workflows
