Data Centre Design & Infrastructure Strategy Engineer

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data Centre Design & Infrastructure Strategy Engineer to lead data centre design, infrastructure expansion, modernization, and capacity planning across multiple sites. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in data centre physical infrastructure, network architecture, infrastructure optimization, and investment planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain data centre infrastructure standards covering power distribution, cooling, racks, cabling, and physical infrastructure.
• Conduct site assessments, capacity planning, and infrastructure optimization.
• Develop cost estimates, expansion plans, budgets, and business cases for data centre investments.
• Review and evaluate data centre and network architecture designs to ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
• Coordinate with colocation providers, engineering consultants, infrastructure vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Assess future infrastructure requirements and drive data centre modernization initiatives.
• Manage vendor evaluations, commercial discussions, and negotiations.
• Present technical recommendations, investment proposals, and infrastructure strategies to senior management.

Key Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of experience in Data Centre Design, Data Centre Engineering, Infrastructure Planning, or Infrastructure Strategy.
• Strong knowledge of UPS, PDU, power distribution, cooling systems, containment, racks, and structured cabling.
• Good understanding of Spine-Leaf and Pod-based data centre network architectures.
• Experience in capacity planning, budgeting, cost optimization, and business-case development.
• Proven experience in vendor management, stakeholder coordination, and commercial negotiations.
• Enterprise data centre or financial services infrastructure experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of Uptime Institute Tier Standards and Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools is an advantage.

Preferred Certification

• Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) or an equivalent data centre infrastructure certification.

Ideal Candidate Profile

A senior data centre professional with a strong combination of infrastructure design, engineering, capacity planning, modernization, and commercial strategy experience.
