Shift Lead, Data Centre Solutions

About The Role

As a CBRE Shift Lead within Data Centre Solutions, you will lead on-shift technical operations and deliver high-quality maintenance services in a critical environment. You will coordinate technicians, vendors and contractors; respond to faults and incidents; oversee planned and reactive maintenance; and help maintain safe, reliable and continuous site operations.

Working closely with the Senior Engineer, you will provide hands-on technical leadership, maintain accurate shift records and operating procedures, and build effective relationships with the client and site stakeholders. This role requires strong electrical, mechanical or refrigeration expertise , sound judgement and the ability to operate critical plant with minimal supervision.

Role Details

  • Reports to the S ite Manager.
  • Works within an operational data center and critical facilities environment.
  • 12-hour rotating roster: four days on and four days off, comprising two-day shifts and two-night shifts. The roster may be subject to change.
  • Requires site coverage across operating hours and flexibility to support planned works, incidents and business-continuity requirements.

Shift Leadership & Operations

  • Lead technicians and contractors
  • Oversee daily site operations
  • Support team performance and development
  • Manage shift handovers and site reporting
  • Build strong client relationships

Critical Systems & Maintenance

  • Perform and oversee maintenance activities
  • Respond to faults and critical incidents
  • Operate and isolate critical plant and systems
  • Support electrical, mechanical, and HVAC infrastructure
  • Conduct site inspections and equipment monitoring

Permits, Procedures & Risk

  • Manage permits to work and site compliance
  • Maintain SOPs, EOPs, and MOPs
  • Conduct risk assessments and inspections
  • Drive operational reliability and improvements

Health, Safety & Quality

  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards
  • Promote safe work practices
  • Support environmental responsibilities
  • Champion CBRE values and continuous improvement

What You'll Need

  • Electrical or HVAC trade qualification/licence
  • Strong electrical, mechanical, or engineering background
  • Experience in critical environments or data centres
  • Building services and facilities management knowledge
  • Knowledge of permit-to-work systems and technical drawings
  • Experience with CMMS, BMS, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong troubleshooting and risk assessment skills
  • Excellent stakeholder and customer management skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • HV switching experience or qualifications desirable
