Data Analyst Trade Finance Operations (Banking Industry)

Role Overview:
We are looking for a Data Analyst with a strong understanding of Trade Finance operations and experience analyzing system log data to identify process gaps, patterns, and automation opportunities. You'll play a critical role in improving machine learning systems and rule-based engines through meaningful insights.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Analysis & Insight Generation
- Extract and consolidate user correction logs from ClearTrade and vendor systems.
- Preprocess raw data by document type/fields for validation and deep-dive analysis.
- Classify corrections as ML-useful or rule-enhancement-worthy.
- Identify recurring patterns and root causes of operational errors.
Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration
- Liaise with operations teams to align analysis with business intent.
- Work with vendors to recommend ML or rule-based enhancements.
- Provide actionable summaries and insights to both internal users and external partners.
Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain logs, progress trackers, and decision documentation.
- Deliver regular updates and suggested action plans to senior stakeholders.
- Ensure transparency of analysis findings and support feedback loops.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
- Minimum 3 years experience in data analysis, ideally in the banking or financial services domain.
- Familiarity with Trade Finance documents (L/Cs, invoices, shipping docs).
- Experience handling large datasets, especially system or operational log data.
- Strong communication (written & verbal) and stakeholder management skills.
- Analytical mindset with a proactive problem-solving approach.
- Exposure to AIOCR systems or Trade Finance automation tools is a plus.
