Data Governance Manager

About the Role

An international firm is looking for an experienced Data Governance Manager to drive enterprise data governance initiatives and support clients in strengthening their data management capabilities.

In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of data governance strategies, establish robust data management frameworks, and oversee client engagements to enhance data quality, integrity, security and regulatory compliance.

You will work closely with senior business stakeholders, technology teams and clients to translate business needs into effective data solutions, while leading and developing a team of professionals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Governance Framework & Policy Development

• Develop, implement and maintain enterprise data governance frameworks, policies and standards.

• Establish data quality management processes, including data validation, monitoring, issue resolution and remediation.

• Drive initiatives to improve data integrity, consistency, accessibility and reliability across the organization.

2. Data Strategy & Transformation

• Lead data governance and data management initiatives, translating business requirements into practical technology solutions and architecture blueprints.

• Identify opportunities to strengthen data management capabilities and support business transformation objectives.

• Provide strategic recommendations on data governance practices, operating models and implementation approaches.

3. Client Engagement & Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with business leaders, IT stakeholders, data architects and senior management to address complex data governance challenges.

• Lead client discussions and facilitate root cause analysis to identify and resolve data quality and management issues.

• Manage client engagements, project deliverables and multiple workstreams to ensure successful execution.

4. Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, coach and mentor team members, providing guidance on project delivery and professional development.

• Oversee engagement teams and ensure the quality, timeliness and consistency of client deliverables.

• Foster a collaborative environment and support the continuous development of the team's technical and consulting capabilities.

5. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure data governance practices are aligned with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards and internal policies.

• Support compliance with data privacy and protection regulations, including GDPR where applicable.

• Uphold firm policies, professional standards, code of conduct and independence requirements.

6. Data Governance Tools & Technology

• Evaluate, assess and recommend appropriate data governance, metadata management and data quality solutions.

• Work with platforms such as Informatica, Collibra, IBM and Ab Initio Meta Hub.

• Identify suitable technology solutions to improve data lineage, metadata management, data oversight and governance effectiveness.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Accounting, Business Management or a related discipline.

• Approximately 5-10 years of relevant experience in data governance, data management, technology consulting or risk advisory.

• Experience in financial services or other regulated industries will be an advantage.

• Strong understanding of enterprise data governance frameworks, data quality management, data lineage and metadata management.

• Familiarity with data governance and metadata platforms such as Informatica, Collibra, IBM or Ab Initio.

• Good knowledge of data privacy, regulatory compliance and information management standards.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management capabilities.

• Demonstrated experience managing client engagements, leading project teams and delivering complex initiatives.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and recommendations to senior business stakeholders.

• Strong interpersonal, stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.
