Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Crew Management Leadership: Oversee end-to-end crewing operations, ensuring the effective recruitment, selection, deployment, appraisal, and welfare of all seafarers.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to flag state, port state, MLC 2006, STCW, ISM, and other relevant international and local maritime codes and regulations.
  • Administration & Documentation: Supervise the administration of Seafarer Employment Agreements (SEAs), payroll, allotments, and leave rotations, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and timely execution.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with ship masters and internal stakeholders to maintain optimal manning levels, certification compliance, and safe, efficient vessel operations.
  • External Liaison: Serve as the primary contact for external partners - including manning agents, government authorities, and other third-party stakeholders - managing certification, visa processing, travel, and insurance matters.
  • Budget & Cost Control: Develop, manage, and monitor the crewing budget with a focus on cost optimization, efficiency, and fiscal accountability.
  • Process Improvement: Conduct regular audits and performance reviews to identify process gaps, drive best practices, and enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Workforce Engagement: Lead internal communications and branding initiatives to strengthen engagement, motivation, and morale across the fleet.
  • Culture & Safety: Partner with Fleet Managers and other stakeholders to design and implement programmes that promote a safe, resilient, and productive workforce culture.
  • Digital & Continuous Improvement: Champion the adoption of digital tools, management systems, and technology-driven process improvements to support operational excellence.
  • Strategic Projects: Lead or support special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Business Management, or a related discipline.
  • 6-8 years of relevant experience in crewing and ship management, with at least 4 years in a managerial or leadership capacity.
  • Proven leadership capabilities with strong stakeholder management, communication, and team motivation skills.
  • Excellent planning, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities, particularly in high-pressure environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and align teams toward shared goals.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring abilities, fostering individual growth and team performance.
