Contract - Unix Administrator

Job Description:

1. Install, configure, and maintain Unix/Linux servers including distributions such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, and AIX.

2. Monitor system performance, ensure high availability, and implement necessary performance tuning.

3. Manage user accounts, permissions, file systems, and security policies across environments.

4. Perform system patching, upgrades, backup management, and disaster recovery operations.

5. Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues while coordinating with application and infrastructure teams.

Required Skills:

1. Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems and command-line administration.

2. Experience with shell scripting (Bash/Korn shell) for automation and task scheduling.

3. Familiarity with system monitoring tools and performance tuning techniques.

4. Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, SSH) and security best practices.

5. Ability to manage servers in virtualized and cloud environments with good documentation and communication skills.
