Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with company policies, legal/risk requirements, NDAs, and liability control.
- Review proposed contracts, flag unacceptable risks, draft changes, and negotiate with clients.
- Assist bid leaders with risk/opportunity analysis and develop contract strategies & mitigation plans.
- Produce a Rights and Obligations Summary for each project to guide entitlement protection.
- Provide commercial advice at kick-off meetings and support subcontract selection/negotiation.
- Handle variations, time extensions, claims, amendments, and dispute resolution.
- Implement change control protocols, audit performance, manage legal support, and escalate major claims.
- Verify contract compliance, document lessons learned, and manage budgeting, claims, payments, and documentation.
- Promote quality, innovation, and best practices in commercial operations.
- Market company, build internal/external relationships, promote group cooperation, and monitor regional project risks/opportunities.
Requirements:
- Degree in Law, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.
- Postgraduate in construction law (desired).
- 10 - 12 years in engineering or construction industry.
- Assess and prioritize construction project risks.
- Proactively influence engineers on commercial best practices.
- Clear written and verbal communication and presentation.
- Strong relationship-building with internal and external stakeholders.
- Analyze contractual/legal issues and solve problems.
- Work independently with sound commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
