Job Summary
The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing building operations, maintenance activities, and site execution to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to required quality standards. This role involves supervising teams, coordinating works, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining effective communication across all levels of the workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage daily construction and maintenance activities across building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and sanitary works
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor project progress to ensure timelines, quality standards, and budget requirements are met
- Supervise contractors and workers, ensuring work is executed in accordance with specifications and approved drawings
- Conduct regular site inspections to assess work quality, safety compliance, and progress against schedule
- Lead preventive and corrective maintenance programs to ensure building systems remain fully operational
- Identify, assess, and resolve technical, operational, and safety issues in a timely manner
- Enforce compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations, promoting a strong safety culture on-site
- Coordinate effectively with project stakeholders, including clients, consultants, supervisors, and workers
- Prepare reports on project progress, site activities, and performance metrics
- Ensure proper resource planning, including manpower, materials, and equipment
- Be available to support work on weekends or during critical project phases when required
- Participate in and facilitate training initiatives to enhance team competency and performance
Preferred Competencies and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CIDB or equivalent) will be an added advantage
- Minimum 8-10 years of relevant construction/site management experience
- Strong knowledge of construction practices and building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, sanitary)
- Proven ability to manage teams, contractors, and multiple site activities simultaneously
- Good leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication skills in English and Bangla to effectively coordinate with diverse teams
- Familiarity with safety regulations and quality standards in construction projects
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
