About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Construction Manager to oversee and coordinate steel structure and E&I (Electrical & Instrumentation) works for our ongoing and upcoming projects in Singapore. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, hands-on experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Execution
- Lead the overall planning, scheduling, and coordination of steel structure and E&I construction activities.
- Develop detailed work programs, progress schedules, manpower plans, and resource allocation.
- Review and interpret design drawings, technical specifications, and project documentation to ensure compliance with standards.
- Ensure construction activities are executed as per approved method statements and quality standards.
2. Site Management & Supervision
- Oversee daily site operations, ensuring productivity, quality, and safety compliance.
- Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers for smooth workflow.
- Monitor site progress and prepare regular reports on schedule, cost, and performance.
- Conduct site inspections to identify and resolve technical and operational issues promptly.
3. Steel Structure Works
- Manage fabrication, erection, alignment, and welding activities of steel structures.
- Ensure structural integrity and dimensional accuracy through quality checks and inspections.
- Liaise with design and QA/QC teams for material traceability, NDT testing, and documentation.
4. E&I Works
- Oversee installation, termination, testing, and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations (SS638, EMA, and relevant codes of practice).
- Coordinate with vendors and specialists for equipment installation and pre-commissioning activities.
5. Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Enforce company and MOM safety policies and ensure all workers adhere to WSH requirements.
- Conduct toolbox meetings, risk assessments, and safety audits at the worksite.
- Collaborate with the QA/QC team to ensure adherence to quality plans and inspection procedures.
6. Stakeholder Coordination
- Serve as the main point of contact between client representatives, consultants, and management.
- Attend project meetings and provide technical updates, progress reports, and solutions to challenges.
- Support procurement teams in vendor evaluation and material approval processes.
7. Leadership & Team Development
- Manage and mentor site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to achieve project objectives.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the project team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in construction management, with strong exposure to steel structure and E&I works.
- Proven track record in large-scale projects within the Construction,Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industries.
- Strong understanding of Singapore's construction regulations, codes of practice, and WSH standards.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
- Proficient in project management software (MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent).
- Possession of WSH-related certifications (e.g., BCSS or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
