The role assists in carrying out scientific studies, maintaining research aquaria, and supporting project coordination across the team's conservation and research efforts. The role also involves preparing research outputs and contributing to outreach, events, and operational logistics.
Responsibilities:
- Organise and maintain the laboratory aquaria and oversee the general husbandry of research projects.
- Prepare and contribute to research reports, presentations, and publications.
- Facilitate research and conservation efforts that align with the Conservation Masterplan of the Singapore Oceanarium.
- Assist in conducting scientific investigations and experiments.
- Assist in managing research projects, maintaining records, and coordinating research activities.
- Assist in conferences, events, outreach, and education efforts.
- Assist in administrative matters related to the team.
- Provide any other support required for Conservation and Science projects undertaken by the team, including logistical and operational execution.
Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences or relevant discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience working in an established aquarium or zoological facility or in a marine laboratory will be an advantage.
- Experience in conducting outreach initiatives, community engagement and volunteer management will be an advantage.
- Publication experience will be an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to independently complete research projects and work in a team.
- Analytical and copywriting skills will be an advantage.
- Knowledge and understanding of local marine biodiversity will be preferred.
- Knowledge in data analysis and experience with genetic experimental techniques will be an advantage.
- Adaptable and resilient in a dynamic, fastmoving workplace, with the ability to conduct fieldwork and support operational needs outside typical office hours when required.
