Job Description
Role Purpose
The Manager, Communications leads the Church's communications strategy across internal, external, digital and event platforms. The role ensures that messaging is clear, consistent and aligned with the Church's mission, values andministry priorities, while strengthening engagement with members, visitors, ministries and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications & Ministry Support
- Develop and implement integrated communications strategies that support the Church's mission, ministry priorities andengagement objectives.
- Manage the Church's internal and external communications, ensuring clarity, consistency and alignment across all platforms and audiences.
- Support communications and marketing efforts across Church ministries, related initiatives and key stakeholders,ensuring consistency with the Church's brand, values and messaging.
- Serve as communications counsel to ministry leaders and staff as they seek to effectively reach and communicate with their communities.
- Work closely with ministry leaders, staff, volunteers and relevant stakeholders to plan, coordinate and deliver timelycommunications for key initiatives.
- Coordinate Ministry meetings and prepare Ministry reports, supporting the Ministry Chair.
- Support timely and sensitive communications during urgent, pastoral or reputationally significant situations, inconsultation with Church leadership.
- Participate in church corporate events and relevant meetings.
Digital Platforms & Content
- Oversee and grow the Church's communication platforms, including the church website, social media, email, broadcastchannels and other digital touchpoints.
- Develop compelling stories, testimonies and content narratives that communicate the impact of Church ministries andencourage engagement across different audiences.
- Manage communications content that supports Sunday services, campaigns, events and key announcements.
- Maintain an integrated communications calendar to coordinate campaigns, announcements, events and platform content across the Church.
- Track and review communication performance across digital and other channels, using insights to improve reach,engagement and effectiveness.
Production, Events & Livestream
- Oversee the production and distribution of corporate gifts for church events.
- Oversee livestream coverage pertaining to Sunday services and events held at the Church.
Budget & Team Leadership
- Lead, coach and coordinate a communications team of 3 staff, setting clear priorities, maintaining quality standards andsupporting their development.
- Plan and manage the communications budget, together with the Ministry Chair.
- Nurture, lead and coordinate volunteers in the Ministry, equipping them to serve effectively in communications-related areas.
- Carry out any other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Qualifications & Experience: Degree in Communications, Mass Media, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or arelated discipline.
- 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in communications, media, marketing or public relations, with experienceleading a team or overseeing volunteers.
- Communications & Content Skills: Strong writing, editing, storytelling and content creation skills across print, digital,social, email and broadcast platforms.
- Able to develop clear, audience-appropriate messaging and maintain a consistent brand voice across multiplechannels.
- Digital & Technical Skills: Proficient in digital media and creative tools, including social media management,website CMS, Canva/Adobe Creative Suite, email platforms and basic video editing.
- Experience in media production, including livestreaming, AV equipment and production support for large-scale eventsknowledge of branding and multi-channel communication strategies.
- Leadership & Personal Attributes: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and develop a team, coordinate stakeholders, work independently, and demonstrate creativity, initiative and sound judgement.
- Demonstrates maturity, discretion and sensitivity in handling communications within a faith-based and multi-stakeholderenvironment, with alignment to the Church's mission and values.
