We are expanding our Singapore engineering team and looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer with a practical background in electrical systems and automation. You will bring hands-on commissioning and troubleshooting experience while receiving training in eMarine's systems and marine applications.
About eMarineeMarine develops and delivers electrical control and energy optimisation systems for international shipowners and operators. We combine marine engineering with electrical and automation expertise to improve the energy performance of commercial vessels.
Your roleBased in Singapore, you will combine office and workshop work with onboard assignments. Working with our engineering team and vessel crews, you will help prepare, install, commission and verify our systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing commissioning activities and reviewing electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Checking installations, wiring, instrumentation and control system interfaces.
- Commissioning and troubleshooting electrical control and automation systems onboard vessels.
- Testing system functionality and validating performance.
- Documenting test results, resolving technical issues and supporting handover to vessel crews.
- Sharing feedback with the engineering team to improve our systems and commissioning processes.
You will work with variable frequency drives (VFDs), BMS and other control system interfaces, electrical control cabinets, field instrumentation, and marine HVAC and auxiliary systems.
Experience and qualificationsWe are looking for someone with:
- Relevant hands-on experience in commissioning and troubleshooting electrical control or automation systems.
- The ability to read electrical drawings, check wiring and systematically identify faults.
- Practical experience with VFDs, control systems and field instrumentation.
- A structured approach to testing and documentation, with a strong focus on safety and quality.
- The ability to work independently within your area of expertise and collaborate with engineers, customers and vessel crews.
- Good written and spoken English.
Marine experience is a strong advantage, especially experience commissioning or troubleshooting systems onboard vessels. Experience with HVAC systems or energy-efficiency applications is also valuable. We also welcome candidates from industrial automation, electrical engineering and controls environments who are keen to apply their skills in the marine sector.
Location and travelThe role is based in Singapore and includes travel for onboard commissioning assignments.
Most onboard assignments are short, typically 2–4 days, with return travel arranged following completion. Travel frequency depends on project workload. This is not a long-rotation offshore role.
You should be comfortable working onboard vessels and travelling as part of your role. Training, commissioning checklists and safety procedures are provided.
