We are looking for a Commis Cook to support the Head and/or Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations, assist with food preparation and service according to standards, maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, and contribute to a smooth, efficient workflow in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
As the Commis Cook, we rely on you to:
- Assist senior chefs in the preparation of menu dishes in assigned sections while ensuring quality and safety standards are met
- Adhere to standard recipes and apply appropriate culinary techniques in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Prepare and assemble ingredients and kitchen equipment prior to service, based on instructions from senior chefs
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen stations and ensure proper handling and upkeep of equipment
- Handle, label, and store food items in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, including proper storage, temperature control, and stock rotation FIFO (First-In-First-Out)
- Monitor stock levels, support inventory counts, and ensure sufficient ingredients and supplies for daily operations
- Work closely with senior chefs to support overall kitchen operations, including guiding kitchen assistants where required
- Any other duties as assigned
We are looking for someone who has:
- Keen to learn and possesses a positive attitude towards culinary challenges
- Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, preparation, and procedures
- Prior experience working in a pre-opening team would be advantageous
- Work independently and good team player
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills
- Possess a strong understanding and execution of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP)
