Job Description

Looking for a talented and motivated Commis 1/2 or CDP to join our exciting and vibrant team in a Modern European restaurant that focuses on open fire cooking, dry ageing and fermentation.

Position Overview:

-As a key member of our culinary team, the Commis Chef will work closely with the Chef de Partie to organizing deliveries, ensuring the kitchen adheres to hygiene standards, and maintain high standards of food quality and presentation. The Commis Chef will also be responsible for supporting senior chefs by preparing ingredients, performing basic cooking tasks, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen order.

-As a key member of our culinary team, the Chef de Partie will work closely with the Head Chef to oversee kitchen operations, menu planning, manage food preparation, and maintain high standards of food quality and presentation. The Chef de Partie will also be responsible for supervising kitchen staff, implementing menu enhancements, and ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.

Commis Responsibilities:

- Food preparation:Measuring, chopping, seasoning, and mixing ingredients for other chefs.

- Basic cooking:Preparing simple dishes like salads or sauces, and cooking elements of larger dishes as directed.

- Assisting senior chefs:Supporting the Chef de Partie and other chefs with tasks for specific stations.

- Kitchen maintenance:Cleaning and sanitizing workstations, equipment, and the overall kitchen environment to meet hygiene standards.

- Stock management:Receiving and organizing deliveries, checking inventory, and rotating stock to prevent waste.

- Meal presentation:Helping with the final plating and presentation of dishes before they are served.

CDP Responsibilities:

- Assist the Head Chef in planning and directing upscale food preparation, including menu development and execution

- Oversee kitchen staff to ensure the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency

- Train and mentor kitchen staff to maintain a high level of culinary skills and professionalism

- Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new menu items and seasonal specials

- Manage inventory and control food costs to maximize profitability

- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment

- Assist in scheduling and managing kitchen staff to meet operational requirements

- Handle kitchen administrative tasks, such as ordering supplies and maintaining records

Requirements:

- Attention to detail and cleanliness

- Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately

- Good time management and organization skills

- Strong knife skills and knowledge of food safety

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team

- Basic culinary techniques and knowledge of ingredients
