Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Lead to head the team in business development, tendering, and commercial governance for a Singapore-based industrial engineering services operation supporting the process and energy sectors. The role is responsible for shaping commercial strategy, pricing discipline, and risk management across the full opportunity lifecycle.

Working closely with senior leadership and operations, this position provides strong commercial oversight from bid qualification through contract award, ensuring sustainable growth, robust governance, and effective handover to execution teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead business development activities including client engagement, opportunity identification, and contract renewals.
  • Drive commercial strategy, pricing frameworks, and market positioning aligned to business objectives.
  • Own tendering and bid governance, ensuring compliance with commercial and risk frameworks.
  • Lead commercial reviews, risk assessments, and tender approval processes.
  • Evaluate contractual, financial, and commercial risks and escalate exceptions appropriately.
  • Provide governance oversight of procurement strategy, supplier frameworks, and major sourcing scopes.
  • Partner closely with operations to ensure effective commercial handover and disciplined contract execution support.

Qualifications:

  • Degree qualification in Commerce, Business, Law, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years experience in commercial, contracts, or business development roles.
  • Proven background within industrial services, engineering, construction, energy, or process industries.
  • Strong understanding of contract law, tendering, and commercial risk management.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating complex or high-value contracts.
  • Professional certifications (e.g. MRICS, CIPS) and/or engineering background are advantageous.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills with a strategic, detail-oriented mindset.
