When liquidity takes priority over settlement, payments slow and certainty drops. The same financial institutions that distort clearing as providers are disadvantaged as users. They are forced into fragmented setups, inconsistent rails, duplicated compliance, and unpredictable timelines. Stablecoin shortcuts and treasury pooling treat symptoms at the surface, but almost no one is rebuilding the underlying infrastructure in each market.

Rebuilding clearing from the ground up

We are rebuilding clearing as its own specialist function. We act as a clearing and transaction banking partner for regulated institutions, with treasury built into the core so liquidity, settlement, and reconciliation sit in one controlled system.

Our platform unifies global and local licenses, direct central bank clearing, and domestic rails. We allow clients to open named customer accounts in every market we operate, collecting funds and paying out through a single network while retaining full ownership of their customer relationships. Market expansion becomes as simple as one correspondent relationship, not hundreds.

About The Role

We're looking for a Commercial Director APAC (based in Singapore) to own and scale Lorum's commercial strategy and revenue across Asia-Pacific. APAC is one of the most strategically important regions in our network, connecting global currencies into high-growth Asian markets, and this role will be central to accelerating adoption across the region.

As Lorum's first Commercial Director in APAC, you will have full ownership of regional revenue spanning sales, relationship management, and commercial partnerships. You will manage and grow an existing small commercial team in APAC, while building the next phase of the organisation as volume, corridors, and client complexity scale.

You will work in close partnership with the APAC General Manager, with clear separation of ownership and strong day-to-day collaboration. While the General Manager owns regional infrastructure, licensing, and operational readiness, you will own revenue, client growth, and commercial execution across APAC.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for someone who can operate as both strategic owner and execution lead, with the autonomy to build a high-performing commercial organisation in one of Lorum's most critical regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Owning APAC revenue performance across new sales, existing client growth and retention.
  • Partnering closely with the APAC General Manager to translate regional strategy into executable commercial plans, aligning client acquisition, corridor prioritisation, and revenue targets with operational readiness and licensed capabilities across APAC markets.
  • Leading and scaling Lorum's APAC sales and relationship management teams, setting clear targets, incentives, and performance standards.
  • Developing and executing the regional commercial strategy, including priority corridors, client segments, and go-to-market approach.
  • Acting as executive sponsor for key APAC clients, managing senior relationships and complex enterprise opportunities.
  • Working closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Compliance to align client demand with infrastructure, regulatory, and risk constraints.
  • Hiring, mentoring, and developing a high-performing commercial team as APAC scales, while remaining hands-on in critical deals.

Ideal Candidate

Must haves:

  • Proven track record building and scaling B2B or institutional payments revenue across APAC.
  • 10+ years of experience in payments, fintech, or transaction banking, with strong exposure to APAC markets (e.g., Singapore, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia).
  • Prior experience leading sales and/or relationship management teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Strong commercial judgement with experience owning revenue targets, pricing decisions, and complex deal negotiations.
  • Deep understanding of cross-border payments, clearing, settlement flows, and institutional client requirements.
  • Ability to operate as a player-coach, comfortable closing complex deals personally while building scalable commercial processes.
  • High-ownership mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-moving, ambiguous, high-growth environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Existing senior relationships with fintechs, and regulated financial institutions across APAC.
  • Experience selling infrastructure, clearing, or transaction banking products (not just front-end fintech solutions).
  • Exposure to market entry, corridor launches, or early-stage scaling in Asia.
  • Previous experience as an early hire, founder, or operator in a high-growth fintech.
