Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Skills Coach - Striking is responsible for delivering high level technical and tactical striking development across combat sport athletes within the Singapore Combat Sports Centre (SCSC). The role focuses on building a structured striking curriculum that supports athletes from youth development through to elite competition level. The coach will integrate boxing fundamentals, kicking mechanics, footwork, defensive systems and tactical awareness, tailored to the specific demands of each combat sport discipline.

The position requires technical excellence, strong athlete development capability and the ability to operate within a high-performance, multi-NSA environment aligned with international medal targets.

Key Duties / Responsibilities:

1. Technical Striking Development

- Design and implement structured striking programmes (punching, kicks, knees where relevant).

- Develop footwork systems, distance control, timing and defensive mechanics.

- Standardise foundational striking principles across youth and development athletes.

- Refine advanced tactical execution for elite athletes.

2. Tactical & Competition Preparation

- Conduct situational sparring and tactical drills aligned with competition formats.

- Analyse opponent styles and prepare fight strategies where required.

- Support cornering and technical preparation during competitions and training camps.

3. Athlete Pathway Development

- Contribute to the long-term athlete development framework for striking competencies.

- Identify talent and support progression from grassroots to national level.

- Align technical development with strength & conditioning and sport science support.

4. Performance Analysis

- Utilise video analysis to improve technique and tactical awareness.

- Track athlete technical progression through measurable benchmarks.

- Provide structured feedback reports to Head Coaches and SCSC CEO and Performance Director.

5. Collaboration Across NSAs

- Work closely with respective NSA Head Coaches to integrate striking within sport-specific systems.

- Support cross-training initiatives within SCSC to enhance athlete versatility.

- Contribute to a unified Combat Sports Technical Framework where applicable.

6. Professional Standards & Safety

- Ensure safe training protocols during pad work and sparring sessions.

- Uphold safeguarding and athlete welfare standards.

- Maintain discipline, professionalism and high-performance culture within the training environment.

We are looking for self-motivated individuals who value integrity, teamwork and take pride in going the extra mile to provide excellent service to stakeholders and the community. This individual should be a sport advocate through living an active lifestyle and staying active. The ideal candidate should possess the following:

- Background in Sport Science, International Coaching, or a related discipline (preferred).

- Recognised coaching certification in Combat Sport (Striking related).

- Current First Aid & CPR/AED certification.

- Safe Sport / Safeguarding certification in line with national sport governance requirements.

- Proven track record of athlete development across multiple stages.

- Experience operating within a structured sports organisation, academy or national training centre environment.

- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills - Good oral and written communication skills

- Demonstrate personal integrity, honesty, respect, and show an ability to handle pressure and stress in an appropriate manner

- Highly motivated and passionate about the sport

- Must be able to form effective working relationships with the Head National Coaches, athletes, the Federation and other stakeholders
