Job Description
Summary:
Responsible for setting up and operating a wide range of machine tools to manufacture precise machine parts and instruments. This includes utilizing precision instruments, fabricating, modifying, and repairing mechanical tools, as well as maintaining industrial machines. Expertise in machining, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures is crucial to ensuring accurate and high-quality outputs.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize mathematical knowledge and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers to calculate dimensions and tolerances.
- Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders to machine parts according to specifications.
- Use precision instruments to measure, examine, and test completed units for defects, ensuring conformity to specifications.
- Set up, adjust, and operate a wide range of basic and specialized machine tools for precision machining operations.
- Analyze sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences for fabricating products, as well as product dimensions and tolerances.
- Characterize material machinability, tool holding, tool cutter presentation, and select appropriate coolants for CNC manufacturing.
- Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose malfunctions and determine the need for adjustments or repairs.
- Maintain industrial machines using knowledge of machining, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
- Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter.
- Support metalworking projects from planning and fabrication to assembly, inspection, and testing, utilizing knowledge of machine functions, metal properties, and mathematics.
- Apply non-technical skills such as team-building, problem-solving, and written and oral communication.
Requirements:
- Possess NTC or ITC in Precision Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Relevant experience in machining or a similar field.
- Availability to work in shifts.
- Strong planning and organizing skills.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
Skills:
- Proficiency in understanding and applying geometric tolerances.
- Competency in CNC programming.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Proficiency in various machining techniques, such as milling and turning.
